YOOPs put a halt to atrocities in the cold north

During the early years of gold prospecting, villainy ruled the cruel wilderness of the north. The creation of the Yukon Order of Pioneers in late 1894 stopped the corruption by raising the bar of principled and honorable behavior. The YOOP’s pledge of “do unto others as you would be done by,” provided protection and allowed justice to prevail. YOOP’s would spread the news of gold discoveries and resolve disputes, earning the trust of miners throughout the Yukon. Photo courtesy of https://images.app.goo.gl/a7fvPtDFXjtYAXre9.
