The photo below displays the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Quebec, the Gray Nuns in Beauport, Quebec.  This property sits on top of a hill with a view of the entire city of Beauport.

Today the property is surrounded by urban sprawl but when it was built, it stood tall and proud, overlooking the ships coming down the Saint Lawrence Seaway, spilling out their thousands of homestead-seeking immigrants.

Joyce Derenas is a historical fiction author who writes stories based on the real lives of her French-Canadian ancestors of the Beauce Valley in Quebec.
