Cabbagetown skid rows spreading across Toronto

  • by

Toronto is filled with brick buildings that push against one another as stores fight for space. It takes the remainder of the day to escape Cabbagetown, with its lilting Irish brogue, tucked in one shantytown after another. Cabbagetown spreads to the outskirts of the city proper as it pushes against Lake Ontario, then falls away to fields of thinned black birches and reveals a vaulted sky.

A scene from the recently published novel, the long shot: a french canadian saga – book 1.
